| ok - well - I had to give this movie a lower rating just for the gore alone. I also think that I should have only had to pay $4 instead of $6.75 to see it -because I covered my eyes 1/3 of the movie. I can't handle gore - and this was above average gory...however! It did do it's job. This movie went out for the shock value - and it worked - at least on me. It wasn't as good as Silence of the Lambs, sequels seldom are, but it was good on it's own merit. It was suspenseful, but took too long to get Dr. Lecter and Agent Starling together again, and it made me want the movie to "speed up to get to the good parts". It was great seeing Anthony Hopkins reviving his Hannibal Lecter character - it was like "having an old friend for lunch". No one else could fill those shoes. And if anyone had to take the place of Jodie Foster, Julianne Moore did a admirable job. The movie was just too gory for me. I actually couldn't eat afterwards. One things for sure - this is one movie I NEVER have to see again! It really did scare me! |
