This was the classic movie of good versus evil. The good being a six year old girl who will one day become a great prophet of God. The bad being a satanic cult disguised as a radical religious movement called “The New Dawn”.
Like several of the other religious movies that I have seen, the story gets a little carried away at times. (However, it was not quite as bad as the 1999 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie “End of Days” where he could fight the devil with a magic yellow bullet.) Plus, when you watch a religious movie, you always know how it will end. Even so, I found it to be very exhilarating. In addition, Kim Basinger (Maggie O'Connor) and Holliston Coleman (Cody) did a great job of drawing you into their characters.
I think everyone has questions about the existence of God and the devil and the relationship of good versus evil. Although this movie may or may not have any basis in reality, it gets you thinking about the things that can be forgotten in our daily lives.
With some modifications and a little more believability, I may have added another point to the rating. (By believability, I am referring to car chases, narrow escapes, and the like.) |
