Any movie that can make me feel sorry for a drug dealer is a great movie! The movie has done it's job by making this person seem real. (which he is - this is based on a true story). I totally lost myself watching this film. Johnny Depp was incredible playing the lead role of George Jung - figured to be the first dealer to bring cocaine in large quantities to the US. How can you feel sorry for this man? See the movie! He went through so much during his life - from his mother leaving him when he was just a boy - to his family and friends betraying him in the end.
Paul Reubens is excellent in his role as his "silent" partner. Unfortunately for him - he will always be PeeWee Herman to everyone! He's actually a very talented actor - at least in this film.
Ray Liotta is also very good playing George's father - a very devoted father to his son - no matter what mistakes he has made! And you see that transformation later on in the movie with George.
I can't stress it enough, Go see this movie! |
