I remember watching ÒCharlieÕs AngelsÓ when I was growing up. Back then, I was not sure if I actually liked the show or if I just liked the angels. But, I am sure that every other young boy was faced with the same dilemma. This remake of the 1970s ÒCharlieÕs AngelsÓ was much better than I was expecting. I thought I would be giving it a rating of 5 at the highest. Instead, I found myself laughing, caught up in the excitement, and just overall enjoying it. I think I am even getting used to the "Matrix Style" special effects that every movie seems to use during the fight scenes (even though they made more sense in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" where gravity defying moves were part of the storyline).
Bill Murray was definitely the highlight of the film. He added a comedic angle to Bosley that I donÕt remember from the original series. The three angels (Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu) also did an adequate job, but I got the feeling that high quality acting skill was not the number one criteria for their selection.
After avoiding this movie for some time, I am glad that I finally rented it. It made for a good, fast paced, movie for a Saturday night with friends. |
