The fabulous special effects are what set this movie apart from so many others. The special effects used in the fight scenes have since become a standard for all other movies to follow. In fact, it is hard to find an action movie any more that has not incorporated ÒMatrix styleÓ effects in some manner. One of the movies that gained a lot of popularity in 2001 was "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". The special effects in this movie are a near replica of those used in ÒThe MatrixÓ.
When I first saw ÒThe MatrixÓ in 2000, I was amazed with the originality of the concept and the complexity of the execution. Last night (2001-4-28) I watched the movie for the second time. Although my rating has not changed from the first viewing, I was able to really gather a perspective on just how ground breaking this movie was.
I do have two negatives to complain about. One Ð I really donÕt think Keanu Reeves is a very good actor. His looks have taken him along way since "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure". But, I think that style of movie is better suited for him. A good looking actor with better acting skills would have made this movie that much better. Two Ð I donÕt understand the ending. I think I know what happened, but if I am correct I am not sure that it should have happened. (You will better understand after you watch the movie.)
This movie is a must see for everyone, not just fans of action films. |
