I had wanted to see this movie since it came out in the theaters a month ago...yes, mainly because Hugh Grant was in it - but not just for his looks (mostly but not entirely!) but because I think I've liked every movie i've seen with him in! I own 4 Weddings and a Funeral as well as Notting Hill! Anyway - I digress...this movie was much better than I had anticipated. It was an arm-twister just trying to get the guys to go along -but in the end - most of them were just as pleasantly surprised as I was! And Hugh wasn't the only reason! In fact - I disliked him in this role as a "scoundrel" - and really enjoyed Colin Firth. Renee Zellweger was also impressive. The Brits were all up in arms to have an american play "their Bridget" - especially with an entire British cast - but I believe Ms. Zellweger held her own and was very convincing - I enjoyed this movie a lot! After coming out of the theater - I had originally rated this a "7" -but the more I thought about it - it's definitely a solid "8" - for no more reason than when I think back to parts of the film - it still makes me laugh!
On a side note - this movie will hit home to a lot of the women out there. Especially the over 30-single crowd! But it's silly! I laughed the entire way through! It's well worth the ticket price to see this movie! I would recommend it highly! |
