This movie was not as good as I expected it to be. The trailer looked really good and my impressions of the first movie were good enough that I thought I would like to see it in the theater. I’m thinking that I should have waited for rental. I will say that for the type of movie it is, it should do quite well. The special effects in movies are getting cooler every day. There were some hokey parts in this one – like when they mapped “The Rock”’s face onto the giant scorpion monster. But other effects were excellent like the dark army of Anubis. Special effects alone can’t get me excited about a movie, though.
The scenes were very reminiscent of Indiana Jones movies (similar to the first Mummy movie as well). I thought the plot in the first Mummy movie was a little better, but this one had some cool twists. You definitely can’t look too deeply into the historical accuracy of the movie, but I doubt they expect anyone to. In the final analysis, I think this movie is mediocre at best. |
