This was an extremely touching story of a "robo-boy" who was created to love. He is one-of-a-kind; totally unique. The only problem is, would a human be able to love something not real? This is the basis of the movie - and if it doesn't touch you in at least a small way - you must be numb. I know I couldn't contain myself!
Haley Joel Osment was incredible, as always, in his role as David. I also particularly enjoyed Jude Law in a very non "Jude Law-ish" role as Giggolo Joe. But, i'm sure everyone will agree that the scene stealer was Teddy!
Steven Spielberg did a remarkable job recreating Stanley Kubrick's ideas - and throwing a few in a of his own (pay attention to the ending - it reminds me of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" a little). I'm sure that was not an easy task - knowing Kubrick's movies.
I probably would have given this movie at 9 or maybe possibly a 10 if I didn't feel that there were some scenes, especially at the end, that could have been cropped or taken out completely.
But regardless - ladies and gentlemen - this film is a must-see in my humble opinion. |
