Supposedly, and deservedly so, the most realistic computer animation to date. I will admit that there are times when you'll catch yourself thinking how real it does look, but movie effects affect me the least when enjoying a movie.
I most enjoyed recognizing the voice-overs for the characters, and the list is impressive. It should certainly come as no surprise to you that I could identify most of the major characters. Unfortunately, the detachment of the actors with the characters is clearly evident at times. Reading a script in a recording studio does not always translate to the real acting that is required when delving a role. It seems fitting that a movie forged from computers would also feel like a computer tried to interpret what real acting is.
Moreover, the story becomes confused and lost in all the surrealism. The threat of the alien spirits is understandable because you clearly see the havoc that they can wreak, but you won't understand the reasoning or motivation behind the carnage. You also will not understand the ultimate solution to the alien spirits. |
