What a classic line - and the original star, Charleton Heston gets to say it again in this film... made me laugh out loud!
Anyway - back to the review...
just by it's opening scenes - anyone NOT knowing this is a Tim Burton film must have been living in a cave for the past 20 years...the dark backround and the even darker message and the incredible costumes proves that it's his film. Who else could manage to make such a dark, eery film. He is a master at his craft! I still rate "Edward Scissorhands" as one of my all time favorite movies...
The storyline wasn't the best. However, the special effects and the costumes really had me intrigued. The ending will also leave you wondering what's going on - but of course, leaves it wide open for a sequel (just like the original movie). The scene stealer was the chimp, Peraclese. He might have only been in the movie 10 minutes -but he stole my heart! It definitely raised my rating up to a "7".
Tim Roth played a very convincing role as "Thade", head general of the Ape army. He might scare young children if you are considering taking them...he scared me. However, of all the actors, he, by far, was the best.
Over all - this movie had cheesy lines, great costumes, and superb special effects...but it also had severe violence - not necessarily a kids movie... |
