If you see one thriller this year, make it "Memento"! It has by far the most unique premise I've seen in a long time, and its definitely my kinda movie!
In this movie, you follow Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce from "L.A. Confidential"), as he tries to find the man who raped and murdered his wife. But there's a twist. When Leonard walked in as his wife was being attacked, he was struck unconscious. The head injury from that blow cost him his ability to retain short term memories. As you can imagine, this makes everday living, let alone a gritty underworld investigation, a bit challenging. Get ready for a wild ride!
Chronologically, this movie begins at the end of the story. But you don't know that until it's almost over. Confusing, isn't it? Well, not reallyÉit just challenges you to think about what's going on as the movie progresses. What a refreshing concept, movies that actually require you to think!
I won't go into any more detail about the story, so as not to give you any help, but trust me on this one. If you've agreed with my reviews in the past, you'll love this movie as well! |
