This was a great movie about a peasant that refused to accept the life he was born into. I can’t believe it wasn’t more popular at the box office. I thought the story was very well written and had a unique concept going for it (although, I learned it was adapted from Canterbury Tales). One of my favorite things about the movie was all of the interesting characters that were developed. Each character had depth and added to the movie's purpose.
I also liked how modern music was used in several scenes. In some cases, the purpose seemed to be to help the viewer understand what the entertainment was like in old England. It helped me relate to the sports and dancing that were popular in that time. One of these scenes was selected for the trailer. It showed fans in the stands at a jousting tournament doing "The Wave". That’s not the scene I would have picked for the trailer, but it’s a good example of how the director was trying to show how much fun the fans were having. - I thought it was cool.
This movie had humor, drama, and even a bit of romance. It was kind of like an upbeat Braveheart or Prince of Thieves – a welcome change, I thought. I enjoyed it pretty much from beginning to end and I’m pretty sure most people will like it also... well, everyone but Doug (haha)! |
