This movie had some funny scenes, but it was definitely not as good as “American Pie”. Watching part 2, there was no mistaking that it was a sequel. At certain times during the movie, laughter could be heard (including my own) yet the scene was really not that humorous. At that point, it dawns on you that you are really laughing because you remember what happened in the first movie. For this reason alone, I think the original “American Pie” should be watched ahead of time. There are hysterical scenes that have no connection with the first movie, but why not get all the laughter you can.
This movie falls in line with other “mindless” comedies, like "Dude, Where's My Car?" and "Freddy Got Fingered". I’m sure you already new that, but it’s just a warning so you are not surprised - or more likely shocked. However much you liked the original, you can expect to like this one a little less. |
