I never know what to expect from Disney’s animated films. I knew the legend of Atlantis, but I wasn’t sure what this film was going to have to do with that. I liked the concept behind the plot, but the story was bizarre. The center of Atlantis turned out to be something I wasn’t expecting at all.
I have to say that some of the animation was really good. I’m always surprised at the quality of visual effects in these films.
There were some cool twists in the plot along the way, but I also feel like they missed some important details that would have brought things together better.
Due to the violence and some of the concepts in this movie, I’m not sure I agree with a PG rating. I think there are some kids that may have a difficult time during certain parts. I have to say - I’m not very crazy about movies “for kids” that mask deeper philosophies within them. This movie spoke of a giant “spirit crystal” that “contained a bit of all the people” inside of it. This stuff makes me nervous and probably affected my rating a little as well. Parents who like to use caution about what is being fed to their kids may want to screen this film before letting them watch it. |
