IÕve always liked John Travolta as a bad guy. This time, I canÕt decide if his character really was a bad guy, which was an interesting twist. I thought he did a good job portraying a calculated anti-terrorist on a mission to protect American life. It felt a bit strange watching this movie so close to the September 11th events.
The action scenes were very good overall. Even the things that were a bit unbelievable at least looked real. There was lots of action to keep you moving.
IÕm not sure how much I bought into the hacker character. This was due largely to the fact that they misused computing terms and threw some words in to try to sound high tech. Then they didnÕt show code as it really looks Š they made it look like some kind of 3D software with layers of text on top of each other. The guy also got way too excited over a Ņmulti-screenedÓ computer Š any hacker would have that already. This kind of thing is a pet peeve of mine. DonÕt they realize that the people watching need to have realism?
There was some unnecessary nudity in this movie as well. I guess they thought that would convince some people to watch. To me this kind of move puts the movie in a lower class.
In the final analysis, I consider this movie to be middle of the road. I didnÕt hate it, but I canÕt say there was anything in it overly memorable. |
