You have to admit that Brad Pitt (Tom Bishop) is challenged when he has to carry a movie. The requirement just pushes him beyond the limits of his abilities. Thankfully, very little is required of Mr. Pitt in this movie, so his screentime is acceptably decent, bordering on good - probably some of his best work. In contrast, a grizzled Robert Redford (Nathan Muir) can EASILY carry a movie, and it's definitely required of Redford. Not his best work, but he doesn't disappoint and still dwarfs Pitt.
Although sometimes long-winded, the vicarious peek into the dark shadows of the clandestine operations of the CIA thrills and fascinates at the expense of some faceless bureaucrats. Fact or fiction? I would suspect that it's both - and neither. Fiction based on fact - skillfully and artfully done. |
