It is not possible to make a Christmas movie that is more enjoyable than this one. Every scene, from the teacher reading the "Christmas Themes" to the "Soap Poisoning" episode, is absolutely hysterical.
The story is told from the perspective of Ralph "Ralphie" Parker (Peter Billingsley) as an adult, looking back on Christmas in the 1940s. This is done in much the same way as Kevin ArnoldÕs character on "The Wonder Years". For this Christmas, RalphieÕs only mission is to obtain a Red Ryder BB Gun. He tries and tries, but everywhere he looks for help he is told "you'll shoot your eye out".
I think everyone can relate to this story. If you were like me when you were younger, there was always the one gift that you had to have for Christmas. At the time, you promised that you would never ask for another thing if you got it and you would never talk to you parents again if you didnÕt. But, your parents knew you didn't mean it. By the time Christmas morning arrived and you found your gift under the tree, you had already started to think of stuff that you were going to need for your birthday. On the contrary, if Santa left you hanging, I bet you did not keep quiet for long.
Every time I watch this movie, I laugh until my face hurts. If you have not seen this one, I highly recommend it. No, actually I insist that you watch it. Unless you were raised by wolves (like Matt - one of the other PopcornPicks reviewers), I am sure you will enjoy it. |
