I think 'good enough' is about the most I can say for "Ice Age". In the ultra-competitive world of family movies, loaded with super-high tech animation, star-studded voice-overs, and multi-million dollar marketing campaigns, this movie manages to not get lost in the pack. That's not exactly a resounding endorsement, but it's a complement nonetheless.
Following the formula of the hit's "Shrek" and the "Toy Story" movies, "Ice Age" does a good job of balancing wholesome entertainment with somewhat-adult humor, and does it in a way that keeps everyone in the family happy. I laughed a lot, and I think most everyone will enjoy the prehistoric animals as they go about their adventure.
But in the end, I just can't give this more than 6 kernels. It just didn't have that certain something that makes a movie memorable. It's better than average, but not by much. |
