For me, itÕs very hard to get into a movie that is saturated with philosophy with which I completely disagree. This movie was about ÒfateÓ and ÒdestinyÓ two things that I donÕt really believe in. I knew this was the point of the movie from the trailer, but I thought that perhaps I could ignore this and still enjoy the movie. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The movie was seeping with new age philosophy, astrology, and fatalism. Every character was given lines to say that were filled with mythology and such. It was like watching a big commercial for the new age movement.
Aside from the obvious agenda of the filmmakers, the story would still be ridiculous. No rational person would ever allow someone to just completely walk out of their life if they felt there was real emotion between them. To make it worse, the movie had many hokey scenes where the two would pass on the street and not see each other, or miss each other by seconds.
Oh and one more thingÉ if ÒfateÓ were truly in control of their meetings, then they wouldnÕt have had to look each other up after 3 years! In fact, all the things that were portrayed as resulting from ÒdestinyÓ were results of their obsession with one another from the day they met. Just something to think aboutÉ
I understand the point of this movie. Maybe some people will enjoy it. For me, I canÕt get past the ridiculous underlying premise. |
