ÒKissing Jessica SteinÓ took a funny and lighthearted approach at depicting the difficulties we face in obtaining a happy and meaningful relationship. In doing so, Jessica SteinÕs neurotic, nothing is ever good enough, easy to find faults, never satisfied persona hit way too close to home (seeing as how IÕm exactly like that). With the big 30 around the corner and one unsuccessful relationship after another, Jessica is willing to try just about anything to find true happiness Ð even the ÒLÓ word. I found it highly amusing to watch two adult women meandering through a relationship the way two 10-year old school kids just beginning to find the opposite sex attractive would. Everything is a question, genuinely confusing, and truly scary.
The performances from everyone in the movie were wonderful, and I loved the writing. After much internal debate as to a rating of 7 or 8, I went with the lower of the two. Once again, I'm just like Jessica because neither one seems just right. |
