My Review:

This is the first movie IÕve been to for years that had a line to get into the theater! We arrived 30 minutes before show time and barely got a seat! Once seated, I had over 2 hours to decide if this Star Wars episode was worth the wait.

After long pondering in my head, I have decided that this movie was up to my expectations. I do however have a few caveats to add to my rating. Star Wars is so nostalgic to me, that it may be difficult for me not to enjoy one of these movies. I was quite aware that I was completely overlooking things in this movie that would have driven me nuts if it was not Star Wars. So, my rating cannot be taken as absolute, especially if you have not been exposed to Star Wars yet.

The first thing I have to comment on was the digital effects.  There were scenes that completely blew me away Š more amazing action than I could take in at once! There were, however, at least two scenes that looked horribly fake which abruptly reminded me that I was watching a computer generated film. For all the work that went into this movie, I was surprised to see them allow this type of poor quality. This is an example of something that I overlooked because of my love for the series and because all of the other computer generated scenes by far outweighed the questionable ones.

The acting was adequate. No standout performance from  anyone. Unless you count Yoda, whose fight scene alone was worth the price of admission. The story had enough depth to be interesting even without great acting.

I have a hard time imagining this movie apart from the other films in the series. I know that most of what I enjoyed was seeing how all of the parts fit together to fill in gaps left from the movies IÕve already seen. I have a strong feeling that anyone who sees this episode first might have a hard time understanding what all the fuss is about. This episode may have trouble standing on itÕs own.

Overall, I think this movie will be liked by most and loved by many. Your enjoyment may be linked to how much you know about the rest of the series. If you are a big Star Wars fan, thereÕs no question youÕll like it - I did. If youÕre not, you might want to subtract a couple of kernels from my rating, read DougÕs review and then decide if itÕs worth it for you.
