The trailer strikes again!!!
I've wanted to see this movie for some time, having seen the trailer in several other rentals. But again, the whole is not equal to the sum of its parts. Or something like that.
I really enjoyed the cast in this gritty, quirky, Tarantino-ish gun flick. Ryan Phillippe and Benicio del Toro deliver great performances as small-time crooks who stumble onto what turns out to be the biggest, and strangest score of their lives.
I’m a fan of atypical dialogue, that’s really what put "Clerks" on my Top 10 list. And this movie has more that your average shoot-em-up...kudos to the screenwriter. And I enjoyed the over-the-top violence...always good for a chuckle or two.
But the downfall of the movie was the overly-cryptic storyline. While watching this with friends, we had to stop the movie and ask each other what the hell was going on. And I thought “Dune” was confusing!
Anyway, the movie’s inability to clearly convey the storyline/plot keeps me from giving it six or seven “kernels.” Overall, not that bad, but I’d recommend you see “Reservoir Dogs” first for comparison. |
