First movie back from the honeymoon - what a mood breaker! But I digress...
The best part about this movie is that the writers keet the love interest theme at a minimum. The worst part about this movie is the fact that there was a love interest at all! Yes - it did add some levity in the beginning of the movie - however, I felt that it was not needed to enhance the film.
But back to the film... I thought that the story was interesting and definitely kept my interest. Never having read a Tom Clancy book, but seeing the movies - I think this one falls nicely into that "well done" category. Also -Ben Affleck does a fine job filling some big shoes. This movie is supposed to pre-date the other ones - so he is a younger "Jack Ryan " (Alex Baldwin/Harrison Ford) - but still very believable.
I always enjoy movies with Morgan Freeman - he adds something to any film that makes it that much more enjoyable.
The special effects were quality, at least in my humble opinion. But I will let you be the final decision maker on that one! But I will admit, I'm not usually a fan of this type of movie. But this one will be up there as one of my favorites! |
