ÒMasterpiece.Ó ThatÕs a mighty powerful word, and the one chosen by Ebert and Roper to describe ÒMinority Report.Ó Granted, the movie was entertaining, but I think ÒMasterpieceÓ should be limited to movies that near perfection. ÒMinority ReportÓ is not in that class of film.
Although Tom Cruise did a good job in his leading role, the story lacked the real excitement I had hoped for. Often times, I was thinking Òah, that wouldnÕt have happenedÓ, but I guess sci-fi movies demand a little more leeway than a typical action movie. Or, maybe I went in with an unfair expectation in a year of less than spectacular films.
I can give you Òabove averageÓ, but ÒmasterpieceÓ is asking for too much. |
