Recently, Tom Hanks (Michael OÕSullivan) received a lifetime achievement award from the American Film Institute. His performance in ÒRoad to PerditionÓ further shows why he was deserving of such an honor. Mr. Hanks seems capable of playing every role imaginable. So far, he has mastered a little boy, a soldier, a man dying of aids, an astronaut, a castaway, and now a gangster (just to name a few). Generally, mob movies donÕt excite me, but I am willing to watch anything he acts in since I never seem to leave the theatre disappointed. ÒRoad to PerditionÓ was no exception.
In addition to his performance, Hanks had a great supporting cast, and a quality script and direction. If you like mob flicks, this is a perfect choice. If not, go see it anyway just to appreciate good acting (although generally overlooked in movies today, I still canÕt wait for the Matrix sequel). |
