If you read my bio, then you know that my favorite movies are the ones I wish I could have written. And if I had enough talent to write just one movie, this would be the one. I have seen this movie too many times to count and I can only imagine how many more times there will be. I genuinely love everything about this film - the writing, the acting, the directing, the casting, and anything else you can think of. Each time I watch it, I watch with the hope that there will one day be another movie that can compare.
The first time I saw "The Shawshank Redemption" I was unaware that it was written by Stephen King. All I knew about his writings was that he was master storyteller when it came to horror. But, I found it hard to believe that he could pen such a perfectly constructed story like Shawshank. In fact, I thought "The Shawshank Redemption" was so masterfully written that I had to research its origins to be sure Mr. King truly deserved the acclaim.
All I can say is that I truly envy anyone who still has the pleasure of seeing this movie for the first time. |
