I could not wait for this movie to come out. Maybe it was the feel good nature of the film (rape and murder) or possibly just because my favorite actor was starring (Kevin Spacey). Anyway you may look at it - this movie will not disappoint. I will go on record stating this will be one of the top 5 movies of the year.
Having said all that gush above - the story itself is a complicated one and one that, if I even gave a little hint - would ruin the movie-watching experience. Trust me on this one! The one this I will say is that this film takes a hard look, whether intentional or not, at the death penalty and euthanasia.
Never once did I even contemplate looking at my watch - the 2 1/2 hours will fly by and leave you wanting more. Unbelievable acting credits should go to Mr. Spacey and to Laura Linney. Kate Winslet did an excellent job as the reporter who is asked to come visit David Gale and do his last interview 4 days before he is executed.
Without saying too much - trust me on this one - go see it! However, fair warning, there are some parts that are a little hard to watch and stomach. |
