| It is very rare when you can watch a movie with limited action and dialogue and still be riveted to the screen. Tom Hanks (Chuck Noland) is a fantastic actor and he made you understand the emotions you would feel if you were stranded alone on a deserted island. Because of Tom Hank's outstanding performance, the movie started with a rating of 10. I reduced it to 9 because I don't really like Helen Hunt and I did not enjoy her performance as Kelly Frears (Chuck Noland's love). It moved to an 8 because I wasn't thrilled with the overall plot. And finally, I arrived at a rating of 7 because I just could not feel the love between Chuck and Kelly and I was unfulfilled by the ending. This movie should have been a 10, but even with its shortcomings it is definitely worth watching. |
