I have been waiting patiently for "The Matrix" sequel since I first heard two more installments were in the works. I wish I could say the waiting paid off.
In the original movie, the special effects were new and exciting and used sparingly throughout the film. The fight scenes were well integrated into the storyline and furthered the enjoyment of the movie. In Reloaded, fighting felt like the primary focus and the use of slow motion photography and the now famous stop and turn filming style were beat to death. In addition, there were too many action scenes and they each seemed to drag on and on. One thing that drove me crazy is that everyone now seems to be able to fight the agents. They don't appear to have the powers of Neo, yet they don't run from them as the did in the first movie.
The story of what "the matrix" really is and how it can be destroyed seemed to require too much thought to fully understand. Things were not completely explained and we left the theatre wondering what this meant and what that meant. In the end, I didn't enjoy it enough to try and figure everything out. I will say that for it's length I was not bored, but I was disappointed. After waiting in line for two hours to see this one, I will not be in such a rush to see November's conclusion." |
