This movie was an incredible, original movie! Something I don't think we've seen is a very long time. Leave it to Tim Burton to be the one to br ak out of the "remake", "same story, different characters" mold! Big Fish was indeed original and fun to watch!
The movie is about a father who likes to embellish (or so it seems) on facts about his life and his adventures as a young man trying to find his w y in the world (a Big Fish in a Small Pond). When he is older, he embarrasses his son, who only wants to hear the "REAL" story, instead of a fantasy story from his dad.
Albert Finney plays the aging Edward Bloom who tries to reconcile with his son (played by Billy Crudup) after he refuses to talk to him for several years. Ewan McGregor plays the young Edward Bloom and takes us through his many stories while growing up. Both actors are superb. Even more delightful is Jessica Lange, who plays the elder Blooms wife.
I can't say enough how refreshing this movie is - something completely new and told in such a way that sucks you right into it. It will make even the most focused person start to see the fantasy world that lives within each of us.
I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes originality, fantasy and pure fun - with a touch of reality. |
