| Overall, I liked this movie despite the tragic consequences that seem to befall everyone onscreen. As he did in the recent "Mystic River", Sean Penn gives a great performance as a recovering heart transplant recipient who's life is interconnected with that of the donor's widow (Naomi Watts), as well the unfortunate man who took her husband's life (Benicio Del Toro). I enjoyed how the director chose to rearrange the "chapters" of the story ala "Pulp Fiction", which added an interesting twist to a decent storyline. This was a good "independent" film, but definitely not the best I've seen. |
