I had heard mixed reviews about this movie, so I was not sure what to expect. Some critics said it was one of the yearŐs best movies, while others greatly disagreed. Personally, I thought it was an exhilarating movie with an original concept. The story centers around a scientific study which allows Catherine Deane (played by Jennifer Lopez) to enter the mind of her patients. These study sessions, which had previously been used on a young coma patient, must now be used on a serial killer who has fallen into a coma before his latest victim could be located.
Much of the movie was filmed in this mind altering state. Doing so, gave you a glimpse into the world as seen through the killer's mind. Both the thoughts he had as a young boy and the twisted world he now lives in. At times, the scenes were quite disturbing but very well done.
Usually I pick apart Sci-Fi films because not enough thought is put into them (see my review for "Pitch Black"), but this is not one of them. I do wish I could have seen it in the theatre, because I think some of the special effects would have been better on the big screen. |
